Where are the ROE Offices located?

There is an ROE office in each county at the following locations:

Clay County - 2nd Floor of the Louisville Courthouse

Crawford County - 2nd Floor of the Commercium Building just south of the Courthouse in Robinson

Jasper County - County Office Building, just southwest of the Courthouse in Newton

Lawrence County - Basement of the Lawrenceville Courthouse

Richland County - 3rd Floor of the Courthouse in Olney

What are the office hours?

Each office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. All offices close from 12:00pm to1:00pm for lunch. The offices are closed for national holidays.

What do I need to do to renew or exchange my certificate?

The Statement of Assurance (Assurance of Completion of Professional Development form) needs to be completed on the paper form or online on the Certs system with the required number of Professional Development activities completed by your certificate's expiration date.  Requirements vary due to different teaching circumstances.  For assistance contact the Newton ROE #12 Office at (618) 783-2523.

What is required to get a teacher's aide certificate?

You need an official transcript (cannot be a copy) and 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university. 60 semester hours are required for a Paraprofessional Certificate.  There is no fee for a teacher's aid certificate.

What are the requirements to take the GED test?

You must be a resident of Illinois, 18 years of age, your high school class must have graduated, and a have form of ID. In certain circumstances, a person can be younger if the GED test is court ordered or they are a single parent. There is a $35.00 fee to take the test. The test has 5 parts - Writing, Social Studies, Literature, Math, and Science. You must also pass the State and Federal Constitution.

What are the requirements to get a work permit?

Work permits are generally required for 14 and 15 year olds. The minor needs to have already found a job. They will need to bring in a copy of their birth certificate and social security card.  Forms need to be completed for approval from their parent/guardian, high school administrator, and their employer.  A copy of their most recent physical is also required.  Work permit forms can be picked up at any ROE #12 office.

Where is the School Improvement Office located?

The School Improvement Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Richland County Courthouse in Olney. The office can be contacted at (618) 395-8626. Their fax number is (618) 395-8160.
